Here lies my research paper, written on how literacy has affected the Cherokee culturally, specifically in today’s digital world. Literacy relates to the body because it affects the ways a people can represent their bodies—are they representing themselves? Do they know how others are representing them? Is there a written language that reflects the spoken language of the Cherokee, and how was that adopted? Also, culture and heritage are intrinsic components of people’s bodies if one moves beyond the physical body. The ways literacy affects the perseverance of Cherokee culture has affected the Cherokee body.
I also want to emphasize that this is a pandemic paper. There is so much more I wish I could have done with it, but I am choosing to prioritize my mental health after this extremely difficult year, a task I hope we will all undertake more often. I have put so much into this paper (it is here! and it is whole!), but I wish I could have written more about my own findings with the research. That said, I’m still immensely proud of the paper (especially knowing what it took for me to write it) so please take a look 🙂
